American Meteorological Society Workshop on Weather Radar, Seattle, Washington, 9 August 2003

  • The American Meteorological Society is holding a workshop on radar meteorology at Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, 9 August 2003. Dr. Chandrasekar will be teaching most of this, but Dr. Ronald Rinehart will cover topics related to calibration and interpetation. As an aid to the interpretation, the excellent report by Rodger Brown and Vincent Wood (1987: A Guide for Interpreting Doppler Velocity Patterns. National Severe Storms Laboratory, NOAA, Norman, Oklahoma, 51 pp) contains numerous color images that are great examples of ideal situations that might be seen on a radar dispaly of radial velocities measured by a Doppler radar.
